Finding Colleges
Where do you start to find a college that is right for you? You have many options.
- Find someone to talk to!
Check with people in the career that you are interested in. This could be your teacher or someone out in business and industry. They can tell you what they liked and didn't like about their college experiences. An individual in the career field you are interested in has valuable advice to share with you and can answer many of your questions. - Find our what is available!
Seek advice from your guidance counselor. Their experience in working with many colleges will be valuable. The counselor might also tell you about former students who have gone to a particular college and might put you in touch with them. Some guidance departments also schedule colleges to come to your school to make presentations and answer student questions. Colleges may provide your school with brochures and catalog information. - Your own relatives may have college information to share. Do you know if and where your uncles and your aunts went to school? Start conversations with them and see what you can learn. Ask them if they know anyone who studied a particular field and see if they can connect you with another individual to talk with.
